Polystyrene (PS) CAS#9003-53-6

Good Processability: Polystyrene has excellent fluidity when melted, easy for injection molding, extrusion and foaming processing. It can be made into transparent rigid products or foam materials for different scenarios.

Stable Performance: General polystyrene is transparent, resistant to many dilute acids and alkalis under room temperature. It has good electrical insulation, but poor weather resistance and is easy to be corroded by aromatic solvents.

Versatile Uses: It is widely used for disposable tableware, packaging containers, electronic housings, foam insulation boards, toy parts and laboratory consumables.

Pellet Form & Non-Hygroscopic Nature: This material is supplied as colorless transparent pellets. It is non-hygroscopic and can be stored in dry and ventilated warehouse.

Product Details

Polystyrene, characterized by the molecular formula (C₈H₈)ₙ, presents as colorless transparent thermoplastic pellets. It is hard and brittle, with outstanding light transmittance. It dissolves in benzene, chloroform and ketone solvents. Different grades include GPPS (general purpose polystyrene), HIPS (high impact polystyrene) and EPS (expandable polystyrene).
