Broad Compatibility: The product exhibits good compatibility with both anionic and non-ionic compounds.
Rapid Biodegradability: It breaks down quickly in the environment, offering an eco-friendly profile.
High Water Solubility: It dissolves readily in water, enabling easy formulation across a variety of applications.
Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), an anionic surfactant, is widely recognized as a representative compound in the family of sulfate-based surfactants. Also known as AS, K12, sodium coco-sulfate, sodium lauryl sulfate, or foaming agent, it is commonly supplied as a white to pale yellow crystalline powder that is non-toxic, sparingly soluble in alcohol, insoluble in chloroform and ether, but highly soluble in water.
This surfactant demonstrates good compatibility with both anionic and non-ionic compounds. It exhibits strong emulsifying, foaming, wetting, detergency, and dispersing capabilities, producing abundant foam and showing rapid biodegradability. However, its water solubility is comparatively lower than that of sodium fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether sulfate (AES).

Sodium dodecyl sulfate demonstrates strong performance in cleansing, emulsion formation, and foam generation. It is employed as a cleaning agent and an auxiliary in textile processing, with broad utilization across multiple sectors. Applications include its use as an anionic surfactant, a foaming agent in toothpastes, a fire suppression chemical in mining, a component of firefighting foam, an emulsifier in polymer emulsion synthesis, and a dispersing agent in pharmaceutical preparations. It is also found in cosmetic products like shampoos, wool cleansers, and detergents designed for delicate fabrics such as silk and wool. In addition, it plays a role as a flotation reagent in mineral processing operations. In accordance with standard GB 2760-96, this compound is approved for use as a processing aid in food production, serving roles such as a foaming promoter, emulsion stabilizer, and anionic surfactant. Typical food-related applications include cakes, beverages, processed protein products, fresh fruit treatments, fruit-based drinks, and edible oils.
