Ferric chloride
High-Efficiency Water Treatment: Effectively eliminates suspended solids, organic pollutants, and phosphates, demonstrating superior turbidity reduction compared to alum.
Versatile Industrial Catalyst & Oxidizer: Widely applied in organic synthesis and dye manufacturing due to its strong oxidative capacity and solubility across multiple solvents.
Antibacterial Action via Ferroptosis: Combats drug-resistant pathogens such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa by triggering ferroptosis, offering a novel approach to treating wound infections.
Bulk Scalability & Cost-Effectiveness: Supplied in Full Container Load (FCL) quantities to support large-volume applications in water treatment and chemical production.
Ferric chloride presents as a dark brown, hexagonal crystalline solid. It displays a pomegranate-red hue in transmitted light and a metallic green reflection when viewed under direct illumination. This compound is highly soluble in water, methanol, ethanol, acetone, and ether, and also dissolves in liquid sulfur dioxide, phosphorus tribromide, phosphorus oxychloride, ethylamine, and aniline. It is slightly soluble in carbon disulfide but insoluble in glycerol. Its main uses include applications in water treatment, as well as serving as a mordant, catalyst, chlorination agent, and a precursor to other iron-based salts.
