Zeolite
Multiple Varieties: Available in both naturally occurring and synthetic forms, with more than 190 distinct types identified worldwide.
Highly Porous Framework: They feature an extensive microporous network that delivers outstanding adsorption and ion-exchange performance.
Extensive Applications: Its unique structural and chemical features make it suitable for use in gas separation, water treatment, catalysis, and agricultural practices.
Low Density: Lighter than common rocks, it allows convenient handling and transport, especially in large-scale industrial processes.
Zeolite refers to a broad category of framework-structured minerals composed mainly of aluminosilicate, encompassing both natural and synthetically produced variants. To date, around 40 natural zeolite types have been identified worldwide, alongside more than 150 synthetic types. These minerals typically exhibit a light gray coloration, though some varieties display a flesh-red tint, often resulting from specific mineral impurities.
When held, zeolites feel noticeably lighter than typical rocks due to their highly porous internal architecture—an intricate network of microscopic channels and cavities far more complex than a honeycomb. This extensive porous system underpins their exceptional adsorption and ion-exchange properties, enabling broad utility in areas including water purification, gas separation, catalysis, and agricultural enhancement.
